Are You Promotionally Phobic?

Here are some signs that you may suffer from promotional phobia Left untreated, this disease can be contagious and infect your business growth and income potential. If you have said any of the following statements, you may be promotionally phobic. Do not worry; early detection does lead to full recovery!

___ "I am not good at public relations."

Are you able to smile and say hello to a stranger on the street? If so, you have the skills it takes to succeed in public relations.


___ "What if no one is interested?"

What if someone is? You never know until you ask.


___ "I do not have the time."

It is important to make the time. It can be as easy as dropping a flyer off at the dry cleaners when you are there to pick up your clothes. It does not have to be time consuming.


___ "I don't have the money."

Rome was not built in a day! Start small and then build on your marketing campaign each year. Collaborate with other professionals and organizations to promote your services together. If you are a nonprofit, learn about fundraising and grant writing. If you are a minority-owned business, consider a small-business loan. Many types of public relations such as public service announcements and press releases are free. All you need is one reporter to run your story and many future customers will learn about what you have to offer.
